2 of 5 MOO DO VALUES

After so many hours of working, it is time to go to the gym to practice our lesson in Martial Arts. It is good to start with an exercise. After that, we reviewed our IL SOO SIK DAE RYUN (One Step Sparring). We covered 18 combinations and it is not as easy since the last 2 are new to us. To give you an idea what is IL SOO SIK DAE RYUN, it is a patterned combination of techniques on how to defend a high punch. Next, we practiced the Pyang Ahn Sa Dan Hyung, Pyang Ahn O Dan Hyung, and the Chil Sung Il Rho Hyung. Those are the different kinds of patterned and combined techniques such as blocking, kicking, striking and punching. It is really good to practice those hyungs from time to time in order to perfect the form and it is the best way to develop the circulation of our blood for better breathing. Last, we discussed the 2 of the 5 Moo Do values.

1. History (yuk sa) - It was stated that it is important to have knowledge of the history of the humanity, Moo Do, Soo Bahk do, Moo Duk Kwan, Federation and the do jang. It also emphasized the honoring the past by respecting the seniors and the elders. It is also important to know the background of the hyungs and achievements.

why?
-Pride and Credibility
-Backbone of being / strengthening identity
-Appreciation of the past that made it possible of what we are today
-history shows how our present has been formed. it is the foundation for us to be able to create our future in a natural way

2. Tradition (Jun tong) - One of the tradition is bowing, starting and ending with bowing each class. Another is the protocols, shim sa process/procedures and certifications. Also, the wearing of Dan Bon(Degree Number) and the Moo Duk Kwan Do Bok(Blue Trim). Lastly, the ways of things we are doing within our training.

Why?
-Backbone of being and strengthening identity
-Forming unique identity through character development and learning the value of particular traditions

So far, those were the topics we cover awhile ago.
